Frequently Asked Questions:
I have a Bludomain site hosted by Bludomain. Can I get a WordPress blog and ProPhoto to work on my Bludomain account?
Yes. Bludomain does allow to FTP files to your hosting account, and will also give you access to your webhost cPanel to create a mySQL database. Email them and ask for your FTP information, and how to log into your cPanel. It should be something like: http://mybluwebsite.com/cpanel or http://mybluwebsite.com:2082/ with probably the same login info as your FTP.

I love your blog templates and am excited to switch over. I am hosted by bludomain, so I can’t figure out what to do since they don’t have fantastico….please help.
Samantha Cover » You can just do a regular, manual installation of WordPress by using FTP and BluDomain’s mySQL Database wizard. I’ve done probably 20+ installs on bludomain hosted sites.
The only tricky thing is that when you’re setting up your mySQL database, both your database name and your database user name start with your master account username and then an underscore “_”.
So if your bludomain master username is “samanth1″ and you name your database “wordpress” and your user “wpuser” then in your wp-config.php file you would enter the database name as “samanth1_wordpress” and the username as “samanth1_wpuser” and then your password as normal.
Or, you could buy the handheld version and we can do the install for you!
I have a blu domain site but host with Westhost..I can I still ulitize your services without any hic-ups??
Yeah, we’ve done probably 5-6 installs on Westhost. It will work fine. I must warn you though, that excepting Yahoo! webhosting, Westhost is probably the most difficult host to work with as far as setting up WordPress.
They don’t have a simple mySQL wizard. You have to use a tool called phpMyAdmin to manually create a database. Then the username and password for the database is (if i remember correctly) the same username and password to get into phpMyAdmin. Or maybe its your account username and password.
If you get totally stuck, you can always upgrade to the handheld installation and we can take care of it for you, we’ve gotten pretty used to using Westhost.
Hi, ive just swapped my site over to a bludomain site, and now my blog isnt working…. is there something I have to do to get it to work? Ive contacted bludomain to see if the problem is on their end (waiting to hear back).
Thanks!
Hi,
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
Regards,
Jane
Heads up–I have a blu domain site and installed my ProPhoto blog there no problem. Until I used up my server space on blu’s server! Oops. They only allot 3GB space for their sites. It was plenty for my site, since that doesn’t grow over time. But my blog totally filled up the rest of the space over time and my whole site basically froze. I couldn’t blog anymore, couldn’t even send/receive webmail. I am now in the process of figuring out how to move the blog to a new host. Just something to keep in mind.
(blu offered to sell me more space but not much–and it would have filled up again down the road so I am opting to move it elsewhere. I can get tons more space for less $ thru GoDaddy.)
