Q: I don’t want it to say “Blogroll.” I prefer “Links” or something else.
A: First of all, that’s not a question. It’s a statement.
To change it from saying Blogroll to “Links,” you need to go into your WordPress admin area and click on “Manage” –> “Links” (or just “Blogroll in older versions of WP). Edit all the links and change their category to “Links” (you’ll have to create this category). When all of your links are in the category “Links,” it will no longer say Blogroll, but Links.

I’m not getting it. I got everything so far. I want to remove your links and also change the title of Blogroll to Links – nothing is “taking”.
Thank you.
PS This template is just the best. All of the helpful documentation you put together is just amazing and really really its helping me to control this on my own. Thanks,
Ellen
Ellen, Did you remove the default WordPress links? When you checked your blog, did you force your browser to refresh? You may have been looking at a cached version of your page and that’s why it seemed like it didn’t “take.”
I’m having the same problem. Could it be because I deleted the old links before I made my new category? If so, what do I do now? (I didn’t have this issue the first time I installed this theme, and deleting the old links first is the only thing I’ve done differently. Everything else has worked beautifully.)
Thanks!
Never mind, Jared. Problem solved!
Jared, I am trying to add a link to another photography site. They are asking for a links page from my home site. Here is the exact language:
——-
How to get the links on your site.
You will simply need a .php page on your site that will be the links page. many just call this page links.php You will then add the code below to your links.php page. Once this is
published to the web this page will automatically maintain a current links structure due to the nature of the include code (it will have to be published before you will see that it’s working).
The page MUST be a .php page, not a .html page. You can simply have your web designer do this, or if you do your own design it’s as simple as making a php page,
or changing the extension of a page from .html to .php, adding the code, and publishing it. You do not need to change any other page to .php, only the links page. Make sure you place the code in the html body
of your page, and not just as text on the page itself. Remember that the links page must be linked from your homepage. It can be small, and inconspicuous, but it must be text. Once you fill out the form your site will be checked, and as long as you are linked you’ll be added. Random checks will also be made to ensure everyone stays up to date.
The link to the links page must be text, and though it does not have to be visable to guests, we must be able to find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Max.
@Max: create a new “Page” by going to “Write” => “Page”. Then you can insert the code there. When you’re done, click publish and “view page” and copy the URL, it should end with .php
Thanks Jared, this worked perfectly!!!
Much easier than I thought it would be…
Is it possible to have the blogroll/links header section on this template show my blog pages instead of simple links? I would like to have my blog function almost as a full HTML site would, with a dropdown menu that shows my permanent pages for information, with parent categories etc.
Thanks!
@Noah: yeah, basically just remove the blogroll section and create a drop down menu of your pages. check the FAQs for directions.
I was attempting to change Blogroll to “Links” and I somehow deleted the the whole thing. Not sure how I managed this, but I can’t figure out how to add it back in.
@chris: probably the easiest way is to go back to the folder you downloaded when you purchased, pull out the topnav.php file, and copy/paste it all back in.
Jared,
I’d like to have more than one links catagory, but I’d like only one of those catagories to appear in header. Is this possible?
@Kevin: that’s kind of difficult. the easiest way to do that would be to hard-code the links you wanted in the header into topnav.php, like so:
<li id="mylinks"><a href="#">Dropdown Title</a><ul>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
<li><a href="http://site.com">Link text</a></li>
</ul>
</li>
The blogroll lists things like “document blog”, “documentation”, “plugins”, “themes”, etc..
What is the blogroll for?
@Amy: heres some info from the FAQs about “Blogroll”: http://tinyurl.com/3hukla
It’s basically just a list of links. It comes built-in with some WordPress links, but you can delete those and put your own links in under “Manage” -> “links”
Jared,
I emailed Matt this question but have not heard anything yet. How can I change the top nav links to be more like the links in the new prophoto2, runing across the page just above the bio area? Any way to do it, or do I have to upgrade/purchase a new template?
Thanks
