Frequently Asked Questions:
I changed images in my flashfader flash movie, but I don’t see the changes in my browser. What’s wrong?
Q: I changed images in my flashfader flash movie, but I don’t see the changes in my browser. What’s wrong?
A: When you are adding or subtracting new images from your flash movie, you may not see your changes immediately. This is because many browsers “cache” .swf files. English translation: many browsers download and save flash movies in a temporary folder to speed page loads. Your browser may be using an old version of your flash movie. To get around this, you can just wait a couple days, test in another browser, or force your browser to empty its cache. The option to force the browser to empty its cache can often be found in preferences, or options, or privacy, or something like that.

Hey Jared, I followed all the steps to get the flashfader plugin activated but I just can’t seem to get it to work. Everything has been added to the plugin folder correctly, I deleted the necessary lines in the Header.php code, but when I do that it makes my masthead.jpg section all white, and the plugin is not seen in Wordpress plugin manager.
I can’t seem to figure out what I’m missing.
@christian: if you can’t see the plugin in your plugins tab of your wordpress admin area, then it must not be installed correctly. i just looked in your plugins folder, and it is not there. double check and reupload the plugin again.
I know I have the plugin installed… I can see it in the admin area and I’ve uploaded images to it, however, I still have the big white empty space. I’ve tried another computer so I know it’s not my cache. Any sugestions??
Am I supposed to add some code to my theme?? It has something at the bottom of the flashfader menu ….
I can’t see that in your tutorials anywhere …..??
@Sandra: no, don’t add any code. i checked your blog and your problem is that you uploaded the plugin incorrectly. the two files, “flashfader.php” and “flashfader.swf” are supposed to be directly in your plugins folder, but you put them inside a folder called “flashfader”. if you fix that it should start working fine.
THANK YOU sooooo much! I’ve been going crazy trying to figure it out!
I just inserted a new image into my existing set of images and it hasn’t appeared. I tried emptying my cache several times, but no image.
@Marcus: can you try a whole new browser to make sure it’s not a cache issue? cache’s can be stubborn things…
Jared, I did what I had to do to put the flashfeather to work but after I did, it I got a message when I try to load my blog it says “a script in this movie is causing adobe flash player 9 to run slowly, if it continues to run, your computer may became unresponsive, do you want to abort the script?” .
What do I have to do?
@Carlos Tamayo: did you make sure to put at least two images in the flashfader? if you only upload one image, it will give you this error.
My slideshow does not show up anymore and I didn’t do anything to it. I use IE and I have Windows Vista.
Thanks,
Nadia
@Nadia: i’m not near a PC right now, and it looks fine on Firefox/Mac. i’ll try to remember to look at it on a PC soon. if i forget, comment again soon!
My problem is pretty much the same as Sandra described above, but I checked and the two ‘flashfader’ files are both loaded in my ‘plugins’ folder. I also checked in a different browser. What else could be causing me to see a big white space instead of the flash images that are loaded?
@Elizabeth: i checked your source code, and you did not properly edit the “header.php” file. you deleted the one chunk that you were supposed to, but you did not uncomment the other two spots. go back and read those directions again and you’ll see what i mean. if you uncomment those two areas, it should start working.
HELP I can’t seem to get the flashfinder plug in to work. When I upload an image in tool bar in the admin section and once I hit upload I get a blank section where the flashfinder options was.
Can anyone please help me? I really want this plug in to work. It is so amazing
Stacy
Hey Jared,
My flashfader has been working perfectly up until now. I’m trying to add new images to update it and it keeps giving me this chunk of code and I can’t figure out what the heck is going on. Little help…?

I tried adding two images when I got this error message: a script in this movie is causing adobe flash player 10 to run slowly, if it continues to run, your computer may became unresponsive, do you want to abort the script?”
And it still DOES NOT work.
I’ve checked using Firefox, and I can now see the images, but they are NOT the correct size. This is very frustrating.
I’ve deleted images as I do not want someone to go to my site and see the images the way they are….so if you go there it will be empty.
I just need to know what I did wrong to get the slideshow to be at 980×450. I followed all those steps to change it, but I must have done something wrong.
I installed flashfader, the two files are in my plugin folder and the images are not showing…just one blank box…HELP?!
Cleared out the cache and STILL can’t see new flash header images! I even tried looking on a different computer and still nothing.
I am having the same problem with the white, I am using the pwc015_wp_webhosting theme on wordpress.
I did everything correctly, but when I place in the “”
it does not slideshow my two images i uploaded, it just showes white where the headers go.
Can you help? I think it may be the header.php or something.
Everything is writable by the way as well in the through the ftp client I made sure.
I am trying to change my flash header but get the following warning every time. What am I doing wrong?
Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open ‘/home/whi/public_html/blog/wp-content/flashfader/1258570049.jpg’ for writing in /home/whi/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/flashfader.php on line 233
Hi there,
I was trying to change the height of my flash slideshow. I followed the 3 steps listed in tutorials and it didn’t work correctly. I changed my height from 250 to 350 but when everything was save and refreshed, (even the cache) 100px of my background color shows up as if the image is really only 250px high??? Any thoughts?
