Uploading custom fonts

This particular option can be found by logging into your site's admin area and going to:
"ProPhoto 4" > "Customize" > "Fonts"

ProPhoto makes it easy for you to use an extremely wide variety of free fonts available on the web, or to upload one of your system fonts to help you achieve exactly the look and feel you’re aiming for.

However, you can only upload custom font kits in zip format generated by Font Squirrel.  This means you have three options as to how to get a custom font.

Option 1: Go to http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface and choose from their many free fonts.  Click the “Get Kit” link below any font to download a web font zip kit.  You can upload that font right into ProPhoto.

Option 2: If you have a font on your system you want to use, you can upload it to Font Squirrel and convert it to a web font kit zip file that can then be uploaded to ProPhoto.  To do this, get the font file from your computer, and go to http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator Click “Add Fonts”, check if the font is legal for web embedding, and upload your file.  After the generator finishes, download the kit it has made from your uploaded font.  Then use this web font kit zip to upload to your P4 blog.

Option 3: You can also use any of the hundreds of free google fonts, with an extra step or two.  Go to http://www.google.com/webfonts/ .

Then select a font, and click the “Add to collection” button.  Once you’ve done this, click the “Download your collection” link at the top of the page.

Even though it says you don’t need to, download it as a zip file.  Then, unzip that zip file, find the “ttf” or one of the other actual font files in the folder, and upload it to Font Squirell following step 2 above completely.

When you’re done you will have selected a google font, downloaded it, unzipped it, uploaded the font file to Font Squirell to generate a kit, downloaded the kit from Font Squirrell, and upload the kit to ProPhoto. (Whew! Confusing we know, but totally worth it :) )

No matter which method you use, once you have a correctly formatted font squirrel kit zip file downloaded and on your computer, you can upload the file back inside your ProPhoto admin area.  Once it’s uploaded, the new custom font will be available for selection in all of the Font selection areas throughout the ProPhoto customization interface.

You’re welcome to use more than one custom font, just know that they add a slight fraction of a second to the initial loading speed of your site, so it’s best to use only one or two.
