Thanks for being a repeat customer! We think you’ll find the process of upgrading to version 4 pretty darn painless thanks to the automatic Design importer tool we’ve created, and we know you’re going to love the new features. Please take 5 minutes to read this whole tutorial carefully to make sure you get started on the right track.
If you are not up-to-date, backup and upgrade WordPress before installing ProPhoto 4. Tutorial here.
Step 1: No need to delete your prior ProPhoto installation!
The first thing you need to know is that the ProPhoto 4 theme files don’t replace previous ProPhoto themes. You install ProPhoto 4 like it was an entirely different theme (which it is). In fact, you should leave your existing ProPhoto theme folder installed just like it was, there is no need to delete it. Leaving the “prophoto3″ theme folder on your web server intact also gives you the option to switch back to your old ProPhoto site if you’re having any issues with ProPhoto 4.
Step 2: Upload, Activate, and Register ProPhoto 4
In your WordPress admin area, go to “Appearance” > “Themes”, click on the “Install Themes” tab at the top of the page, then click “upload” at the top center of the page. Upload the zip file you downloaded when you purchased, and choose to activate the theme after the upload is complete. Your previous Active ProPhoto 3 Design will automatically be loaded as your Active ProPhoto 4 Design, but if you would like to import your other Inactive Designs, or simply need help with the upload/activate/register process, click here.
Step 3: Get Familiar with the new stuff
The videos at the end of this tutorial will take about 8 minutes to watch, and are really important. Even more convenient, you will find videos and help right inside ProPhoto 4 – just look for the blue ‘more info’, red ‘lifesaver’ or black ‘video’ icons next to each section heading!!
Congratulations! You’ve just purchased ProPhoto, the most powerful and fun-to-use blogging template for pro photographers on the planet! This page contains five 2-3 minute videos that will help you understand the big picture of what you need to do to start using ProPhoto and WordPress.
