Overall blog width

This particular option can be found by logging into your blog's admin area and going to:
"Appearance" > "P3 Customize" > "Background"

This area allows you to set the overall width and left/right padding of your blog as shown in the screenshot below.

The yellow bars show padding, leaving the blue area as your content area.

Your settings in this area affect the images on your blog, and should not just be changed on a whim. After setting these values, the post editor will display the maximum width of your posted images at the top of every post editor page. If you decide to change these settings later on, note the following:

1) Any changes to the width of your blog will change the required dimensions for your masthead images and/or logo image. These will need to be re-uploaded at the correct sizes.

2) If your uploaded images are wider than the content area of your blog (shown in blue above), ProPhoto will automatically shrink your images to fit within the content area. This is handy, but shrinking images in a browser (particularly in Internet Explorer) can cause a decrease in image quality.

3) If your uploaded images are narrower than the content area of your blog (shown in blue above), ProPhoto will NOT enlarge images larger than the size that they were uploaded at. In this case, your images will just be aligned within the content area according to their alignment settings when inserted.

This particular option can be found by logging into your blog's admin area and going to:
"Appearance" > "P2 Options" > "Advanced"

You can choose from 6 different overall blog width setting between 994 and 760 pixels wide. Just another way to fit your blog to your specific tastes.

Changing your blog width will change the image sizes required for many of the images in your "Appearance" > "P2 Uploads" area. Make sure you are prepared to resize these images before you make any changes. It will also change the width that you can upload your posted images at. Be sure to check the 'image width' dimension provided in the text of this area to make sure you are uploading at the right size.
